Other Linux distributions
From Mandrivausers Wiki
Of course, Mandriva isn't the only distribution of Linux out there, it's just the main focus of the forums here and this wiki. There are hundreds of others to choose from, with a variety of features and peculiarities.
Some of the more popular distributions for personal use at the moment include Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and their variants. Other distributions for which you might find help at MandrivaUsers include Gentoo, Arch, Slackware and OpenSuSe. A forthcoming distribution, currently not yet in beta, is called Ulteo and is attracting attention because it comes from Gaƫl Duval, the creator of the original Mandrake distribution which became Mandriva.
Note that some distributions, such as Mandriva, are available both as a live Linux version, as well as an installable version. Some, such as Knoppix and Elive, are mainly intended for live use, and others such as Debian are only available for install.
